Journey to the Pharoah’s afterlife museum in Luxor
Does Luxor need a museum? This was the first question that had jumped to my mind when we were informed that our client (Luxor governor) wants a museum in New Tiba. Luxor is one of the most historical cities around the world. Luxor alone contains over one third of the world’s monuments. Luxor has frequently been characterized as the “world’s greatest open-air museum”. So the question was, How to build a museum in the “world’s greatest open-air museum” ? To answer this question I asked several doctors and teaching assistants till I finally formed the answer needed which was: to make a museum in Luxor, it needs to complete not to compete with Luxor’s identity. The museum must be a new destination, a new environment, a must visit place.It sould be something new in a harmony with the same old spirit. The museum should look different than what is in Luxor as, if it is like a temple or a tomb then why should the tourist visit it he will go to the original one. In Luxor the tourist can visit
